Kandy Gibson, potter
Chelsea Krogman, apprentice potter
Kandy Gibson graduated from The Ohio State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts. She has worked as a teacher of art and special education and most recently a school administrator. She has Master degrees from Wright State University and also Marian College. Over the years, she has spent nearly 20 years teaching art and clay to children at a summer boys camp. During the school year, finding time in her day to create works of art was difficult until the addition on the house provided a dedicated clay studio. Now that Kandy has retired from her school job, she finds much more time in the studio creating, trimming, or glazing pots. Gardenview pottery provides an opportunity to relax and reflect on the events of the day. Summers usually allows her to open the door to the studio, allowing the dogs to come and go as they please, set pots outside to dry, and take in the beautiful view of the garden and surrounding country environment.
Chelsea has taken a real interest in working in clay. She enjoys the glazing for the Raku firings. She creates many carving on the pots and helps with much of the glazing, hand building, and contributes to many new ideas. Chelsea has recently launched our new product....candles. Raku firings tend to be a family event. My husband, Don enjoys helping with the Raku firings and watching over the fire.
